Mercy and Grace
Mercy's introduction to the SAY (Suubi Africa Youth, Hope of Africa in Uganda) initiative began with her mother's active participation in the Community Bible Fellowship, which piqued her interest. With encouragement from her mother, Mercy and her siblings started attending the Community Camps held monthly. This led to her recruitment into the LEAD program for the year 2023.
Before joining LEAD, Mercy had been out of school for nearly a year with few engaging activities at home. This left her vulnerable to negative peer pressure that could have led to unintended outcomes. Recognizing this risk, Mercy decided to join the SAY initiative to utilize her time and grow personally.
During the first module of the LEAD program, Mercy learned valuable lessons on reconciliation and repentance while finding solace in reading the Bible. Despite being one of the youngest participants in her group, Mercy's self-confidence grew significantly, allowing her to assert herself in discussions and feel valued by others.
Her experiences with SAY contributed significantly to her growth as a leader, not only within the community but also in her personal life. She passionately shares her knowledge with fellow youths at her church, passing on everything she has learned.
In conclusion, Mercy is grateful for your partnership with SAY that has created meaningful opportunities for youth such as herself. The impact SAY has had on improving these students’ lives is significant, and your generosity continues to inspire others within their community and beyond.
