Meet Desire

Listen to Desire’s Story

Desire’s life before joining Hope of Africa (HOA) was marked by uncertainty and a lack of direction, with a primary focus on surviving. This period was characterized by feelings of isolation and disconnection, with a noticeable absence of spiritual guidance and support. Morally, there was a tendency to focus on worldly values, leading to a sense of moral uncleanliness. Joining HOA brought a profound change, introducing a sense of purpose, community, and moral clarity that had been missing.

Before joining HOA, Desire’s faith was at a low point. With limited work and spending most of her time at home, she decided to join HOA simply to pass the time and lessen her loneliness. Little did she know, this decision would lead her to a transformative and life-changing organization. HOA turned out to be a beacon of faith, dedicated to trusting in God’s word and commands. This newfound environment not only revived her faith but also provided a supportive and spiritually enriching experience that she hadn't anticipated.

Desire joined HOA because she saw the positive impact it had on people who had been a part of it. They set the right example and showed Desire the bright changes HOA brought into their lives, which made her want to join too. Desire was also drawn to HOA because of its strong faith in Jesus Christ. Additionally, she wanted to be part of something bigger than herself and to connect with a wider community.

HOA has had a deep impact on Desire’s faith and life. Through the Suubi cell group, she has learned how to lead and guide her fellow youth in the community. As the cell leader of the youths in Lujji, she has helped mobilize members for various events. This role has ignited her passion for leadership, and she is eager to take on more opportunities to lead her peers in her community through the cell groups. She has also learned practical skills of hairdressing, computer literacy, baking, and making soap and other products she can do from home for income to feed her immediate family.

Being part of HOA has exposed Desire to a diverse group of people beyond those she knew before. Desire has made many friends, acquired new skills, and learned to synergize with others. This experience has given her a sense of purpose and meaning. Desire strives to live as an example of a transformed youth, embodying the mission and vision of HOA

Currently, she is focused on fulfilling the HOA mission and vision while putting her newly acquired skills into practice. Desire is also looking forward to setting up her own business with the support and skills she has gained. Desire’s journey with HOA has not only strengthened her faith but has also equipped her with the tools and confidence to make a positive impact on her community and pursue her future goals.
